From the Desk of Bradley Amron
The food, the gathering together, the reflecting on all of our blessings... I love Thanksgiving and spending that time with my family. This year, I'm especially looking forward to having that time off and plan to stay far away from the malls on Friday. How about you?
Here at Medallion, we're especially grateful for our customers--your kind words when a job is finished, and your continued trust in us. It's a true pleasure to serve you, year after year. Thank you!
Today, I've got a great article for you about how to keep your home toasty warm this winter. With rising heating costs, it's definitely smart to ensure your home is ready for the change in weather, and I'm going to walk you through how to make that happen.
Sincerely,
Bradley Amron

Keep Your Home Toasty Warm and Save on Heating Bills!
With frost on the ground and the days being so much shorter, winter's definitely creeping up on us. This year, more than ever before, many people are getting smart about how to keep their homes warm and cozy without spending a fortune on heating bills. Today, I've got some proactive, easy tips for how you can keep your home warmer.
Snuff Out Drafts
The easiest way to find drafts is to take a candle and hold it near the wall (cautiously, of course!). Check around windows, doors, moldings, and outlet covers--all of which are common spots for drafts. Watch where the candle flickers--those are spots where the cold air from outside is getting in.
Another thing to look for? Daylight anywhere you shouldn't be seeing daylight--if light can get through, so can cold air! Anywhere you find a draft should be insulated carefully to keep the chill outside.
Hang Insulated Drapes
Even with brand-new windows, you'll still have some energy loss through the glass (though it's much reduced with new windows versus old ones). Once you've replaced your windows, also replace your summer curtains with heavier, lined drapes that will keep each room better insulated. As an added bonus, these drapes will often keep more light out, which makes rooms easier to sleep or watch movies in.
Another option is to layer your window treatments. In the winter, "nesting" becomes a lot more appealing, so the look of layered window treatments is likely to make a room look cozier. But it does a lot more than just alter the look of a room--it also amps up the cozy factor by keeping the heated air in--where it belongs.
Service Your Furnace
If you haven't already, make time in the next few weeks to have your furnace serviced. This should include having the filter cleaned or replaced (for most models, it's important to start the season with a new filter) and having the blower and motor cleaned thoroughly. If you have a gas furnace, now's also a good time to have it checked to ensure that it's vented properly. The careful maintenance of your furnace prolongs its life and reduces your energy bills.
Keep Cozy Underfoot
Radiant-heated floors are a great investment because heat rises, making heat that comes up from the floors an efficient way to heat a space. But if you don't have heated floors, you can add some warmth and insulation underfoot with area rugs. Keeping your toes from getting a chill can help your whole body feel warmer.
By preparing now for the winter ahead, you can count on lower heating bills and a cozier home. Plus, having an annual routine of readying your home for the winter makes a great family tradition (especially if it's followed up by a mug of hot chocolate), and it'll make the shorter, colder days much more enjoyable if you can come in out of the cold to a warm, welcoming home.

Get $500 Cash Back When You Replace Those Old Windows
Old windows are a huge source of heat loss--that means that your windows aren't just hard to open (WHY do people paint them shut?!), and they aren't just chipping and dinged--they're also costing you a bundle in heating costs.
That's why I love talking with our clients about replacement windows, because I know that not only are they increasing the value of their home (replacement windows are one of the few improvements that buyers continue to be willing to pay extra for), they're also *saving* money over time. What's more, right now, we'll even pay you $500 to replace your windows. Sure, there's a little bit of fine print (see below), but the truth is, this is a *great* deal for something that's going to keep your home snug for many years to come.
There really isn't a better way to improve your home's value while also making it more comfortable for your family.
Give us a call and claim your $500 cash back on your new windows.
The Fine Print: To receive your cash back, simply select $5000 worth of window installation services or purchase at least 3 doors.
